As a former public defender and an attorney currently in private practice, I have  handled many domestic violence cases. Domestic violence occurs when one family member, partner, or ex-partner dominates or harms another. That abuse can come in the form of physical, psychological, sexual, or social abuse. There are frequency issues to determine and the severity of the domestic violence, up to homicide.

While I prepare your defense, I ask that you explore the option of counseling. This could be of the anger management type, or alcohol treatment if that is relevant to the charge. For your convenience and to promote the process, I have a network of contacts overseeing in-patient treatment programs. We want to show the district attorney that you are cooperating and taking steps to avoid repeating the behavior.
